Cyanotype on cotton rag

This non-adhesive accordion book was made on the roof of my building in NYC.  I coated the 8 1/2” X 20’ piece of paper with cyanotype, unrolled the paper on the windy roof and gradually put the string down on to the paper. 


As I put the string down, the cyanotype was exposing.  By the time I got to the far end of the paper the paper had already exposed.  The book is a record of time, at the beginning of the book the image of the string is very apparent, as you turn the pages the string slowly disappears until you are left with only blue pages.


This book was made using no adhesive, it has a removable spine so you are able to unfold the accordion to its full length.
