Violent Territories, opens with a rendition of Amazing Grace that the bucket walker sings.  To capture the Middle America aesthetic, I shot the video in west central Minnesota.  It was also important to capture the isolation of the bucket walker.   Large vehicles become predators cutting across the parking lot forcing the bucket walker to stop in order not to be struck.  Huge power lines transmit large amounts of energy from a nearby nuclear power plant, to consumers and industry.  It was important for the video to reflect the emptiness and isolation of what Wal-Mart represents. Wal-Mart is a large “box store” that occupies land that was once farmland and now sells just-in-time goods from around the globe.
